The paper analyses the real issue in Universal Banking. Highlighting the global spread, the concept, the alternative approaches to Universal Banking as while the pros and cons. The author of the view that Universal Banking cannot deal with the inefficiencies and distortions in the system nor will it make a distressed merchant bank viable.
